With 200 horsepower, Yamaha’s venerable V6 3.3-liter F200 four-stroke engine performs admirably on larger boats. Power and Performance
16 PERCENT GAIN IN TORQUE: To maximize intake and exhaust efficiency, the ECM (Engine Control Module) adjusts camshaft timing in response to engine RPMs. When you need it most, between 2000 and 3500 RPM, this maximizes combustion, boosts volumetric efficiency, and provides a whole 16 percent torque advantage.
POWERFUL HOLE SHOT: The airflow into the long tube intake tracks through the surge tanks is carefully controlled by an electronically controlled single throttle valve. While the surge tank lowers air turbulence for better performance, the air silencer box lowers intake air noise for whisper-quiet operation. A stronger hole shot and more acceleration are the results of tuning the long tube intake tracks to increase airflow, which improves low end and mid-range torque and performance.
BETTER, MORE EFFECTIVE COMBUSTION: Precision Multi-Point Fuel Injection delivers the exact amount of fuel for each individual cylinder by use of six separate fuel injectors situated directly above the intake valves. The fuel injectors are positioned just above the intake valves to optimize fuel atomization, which leads to greater combustion, increased engine performance, and increased fuel efficiency.
VOLUMETRIC SUITABILITY: The purpose of large diameter intake and exhaust valves is to supply fuel and air to the combustion chamber more directly. This design significantly improves volumetric efficiency by providing more room for the intake and exhaust valves to have larger diameters. For improved top-end performance, the intake valves also have more valve lift.
LIGHT, COMPACT DESIGN: The In-BankTM Exhaust System, another Yamaha innovation, inverted the traditional four-stroke arrangement to create room for the exhaust to escape between the V-block downward, resulting in a lighter, more compact design. Additionally, this design increases performance by allowing the air flow capacity to increase torque in low and medium operating.
SMART DESIGN: To save space and keep electrical wiring away from the cowling latches, Inside Track Fuel Injection places individual fuel injectors on the interior side of each intake track.
Reliability and Durability
LESS MOVING PARTS: To achieve more accurate valve timing management, a 24-Valve Double Overhead Cam has separate intake and exhaust camshafts. Reliability and maintenance are improved when there are fewer moving parts. In order to maximize power, fuel efficiency, and dependability, this improved design also permits the use of four valves per cylinder, which improves the exchange of intake and exhaust gases.
DESIGN FOR THE WATER: Instead of being modified from an automobile design, the small 60° V-block found in each 3.3L V6 was designed with a maritime engine in mind.
