Description
The availability of a 25-inch shaft on V MAX SHO® 250 versions allows the competitive spirit of the outboard that revolutionized everything to run deeper than before. The multi-species community can now learn that a V MAX SHO is the best.
Convenience and Control
POWERFUL CHARGING: V MAX SHO® outboards provide the type of charging power required to run the vast number of on-board electrical gadgets that are available today, with 46 amps of total alternator power at 1000 RPM and a full 50 amps from 2,500 ~ 6,000 RPM.
V MAX SHO® SERIES PROPELLERS: Made specifically for V MAX SHO® V6 20-inch-shaft outboards, the V MAX SHO Series propellers are tuned for wide-open throttle RPM at tournament level. They come in one-inch pitch increments from 22 to 27 inches.
REAL-TIME PERFORMANCE DATA: You may access real-time environmental, boat system, and outboard performance data with optional Command Link® gauges. For single- or multi-engine applications, streamlined displays come in square or round shapes and are made to endure the weather.
Power and Performance
POWERFUL POWERHEAD: Compared to steel, plasma-fused sleeveless cylinders are 60% tougher and lighter. Additionally, they enable us to increase cylinder bores without causing them to grow, resulting in 4.2 liters of big-bore displacement without adding weight.
LIGHTWEIGHT: 20-inch-shaft models are 34 pounds lighter than their predecessor, the two-stroke V MAX® Series 2, thanks to a redesigned cowling, engine bracket, and lower engine pan.
SMART DESIGN: Instead of exiting on the outside, Yamaha’s unique In-Bank Exhaust System exits downward through the middle of the “V.” This leads to a more compact design and improves combustion efficiency, producing more power and torque.
OVERALL PERFORMANCE: This improved design provides more accurate valve timing and more effective interchange of intake and exhaust gases for responsive power and improved fuel economy. It does this by having individual intake and exhaust camshafts, larger valves than earlier designs, and four valves per cylinder.
RESPONSIVE THROTTLE: Variable camshaft produces a midrange punch and immediate throttle response. To be believed, timing must be sensed.
SUPERIOR FUEL ECONOMY: Precision Multi-Point Fuel Injection guarantees the exact amount of fuel and air required for maximum power and fuel efficiency, while micro-textured cylinder walls improve breathing efficiency. When combined, they increase the fuel efficiency of our two-stroke V MAX® Series 2 by up to 12% compared to the 4.2-liter big-bore V MAX SHO® four-stroke.
Reliability and Durability
CLEANER FUEL: To remove water and impurities from the fuel before they can get to the outboard’s other filters and fuel injectors, Yamaha’s 10-Micron Water Separating Fuel Filter and a sizable on-engine water separating fuel filter with a water sensor work together.
CORROSION PROTECTION: Our unique Phaze FiveTM electro-deposited, anti-corrosive paint technique, when combined with our proprietary alloy (YDC-30), offers a robust, five-layer corrosion barrier. For all Yamaha V MAX SHO® four-stroke engines, this protection comes as standard.
LESS MOVING components: For long-term dependability, a single timing belt requires fewer moving components. For increased convenience, automatic belt tensioners maintain the right belt tension without requiring adjustments.
POWER AND PROTECTION: The exhaust pressure reduction system on V MAX SHO® outboards helps to deliver power by transferring hot exhaust gasses out of the engine during the crucial hole shot and acceleration periods, in addition to keeping the propeller hub cool.
SILENT AND QUIET: Gases pass through a labyrinth exhaust before leaving through an idle exhaust relief outlet above the water line. Together with a muffler-free design, this makes for incredibly quiet and smooth running, even when the engine is at idle and produces a nice power sound.
