Available in both propeller- and jet-pump-driven models, our 747-cc 40-hp midrange offers strong performance in a small package. Its electronic control module, long-track intake manifold, and single throttle valve enable effortless starting, quick acceleration, and exceptional top-end speed.

Control and Convenience
A Variable Trolling RPM Switch (VTS®) is a feature of our award-winning Multi-Function Tiller handle, which is optional. It enables accurate trolling speed adjustments in increments of 50 RPM. All Midrange models can use it.
EASY ENGINE FLUSHING: For increased convenience and longer engine life, a freshwater flush device enables you to flush the engine without starting it.
POWER TRIM AND TILT: The trim range for power trim and tilt models is -3 to +20 degrees. This brings the bow of the boat up, for better hole shot and top speed and a smoother ride.

• PRECISE THROTTLE CONTROL” All air entering the engine block of is routed through a single throttle valve, to ensure the precise amount of air necessary for optimum power and fuel efficiency. It then enters each cylinder through individual long intake tracks, which are ‘pulse tuned’ to provide air at the precise volume and timing for maximum density and power.
• DEPENDABLE STARTING: The F40 and F30 feature a vapor-reducing fuel return system. Used in conjuction with multi-point electronic fuel injection, they offer dependable turn-key starting in hot or cold conditions.

Dependability and Sturdiness
CORROSION PROTECTION: Our unique Phaze FiveTM anti-corrosive paint technique offers a robust, five-layer barrier against corrosion when combined with our proprietary alloy (YDC-30). Every four-stroke Yamaha Midrange engine comes with this protection as standard.
Defending Against the Elements: Water entering the cowling is readily and effectively drained away by a well-proven one-piece cowling with an intake air drain system. Incoming air is routed through a labyrinth of passages that help trap water before it enters the engine’s intake for maximum reliability.

CLEANER FUEL: The Yamaha optional 10-Micron Water Separating Fuel Filter is utilized in conjunction with a sizable on-engine water separating fuel filter equipped with a water sensor. This aids in removing contaminants and water from the fuel before they can get to the fuel injectors and other filters on the outboard.
