Description

Our intermediate 1-liter 70-hp engine has a two-piece upper case and pistons that are 10% lighter. It is the class leader in power-to-weight and up to 80 pounds lighter than other four-stroke competitors. It is among the most responsive outboards on the water when combined with its 16-valve SOHC architecture and 17% larger intakes.

Convenience and Control

A Variable Trolling RPM Switch (VTS®) is a feature of our award-winning Multi-Function Tiller handle, which is optional. It enables accurate trolling speed adjustments in increments of 50 RPM. All Midrange models can use it.
EASY ENGINE FLUSHING: For increased convenience and longer engine life, a freshwater flush device enables you to flush the engine without starting it. GAUGE COMPATIBILITY: You may access real-time outboard performance, boat systems, and environmental data with optional Command Link® gauges. For single- or multi-engine applications, streamlined displays come in square or round shapes and are made to endure the weather.

Power and Performance

SINGLE OVERHEAD CAMSHAFT: The F70, F60, and F50 have a Single Overhead Camshaft (SOHC), which offers a small, light, and space-saving design.
gasoline ECONOMY: The precise quantity of gasoline required for peak performance and economy is delivered via Precision Multi-Point Electronic gasoline Injection. Fuel economy is further improved with Yamaha’s EFI, which improves fuel atomization.
POWERFUL HOLE SHOT: Long tube intake tracks on a composite intake manifold are calibrated to maximize airflow, which increases torque in the mid-range and low-end. Increased acceleration and a stronger hole shot are the results of this. An air silencer box and surge tank minimize air intake noise and air turbulence for quiet, seamless operation even with all this quick power.

OPTIMUM PERFORMANCE: Under all operating circumstances, a TCI microprocessor ignition modifies timing to preserve engine performance, economy, and power.
PRECISE THROTTLE CONTROL: To guarantee the exact quantity of air required for maximum power and fuel efficiency, all air entering the engine block is directed through a single throttle valve. Following that, it enters each cylinder via a separate, lengthy intake track that is “pulse tuned” to provide air at the ideal volume and moment for optimal density and power.

Reliability and Durability

CORROSION PROTECTION: Our unique Phaze FiveTM electro-deposited, anti-corrosive paint technique, when combined with our proprietary alloy (YDC-30), offers a robust, five-layer corrosion barrier. All Yamaha Midrange four-stroke engines with 70, 60, or 50 horsepower come equipped with this protection as standard.
The outboard is protected by the engine warning system, which has several features such as water-in-fuel detection, over-rev protection, shift-in prevention at open throttle, start-in-gear protection, low-oil-pressure warning (which automatically lowers the maximum RPM to 2000), and overheat protection.

WET SUMP: To maintain the lubrication and smooth operation of all the moving components of their SOHC systems for optimal dependability, the F70, F60, and F50 use a pressured oil delivery system in conjunction with a small and sturdy oil pump.
The lower unit’s magnetic drain plug removes metal particles from the gear oil and guards against gearcase damage.
